Perfecting One's Character

The Prophet (p.b.u.h.) used to make a number of supplications related to good character.
"O Allah, guide me to good character, none guides to good character but You..." (Muslim)
"O Allah, I seek refuge in you from bad character, deeds and desires." (Tirmidhee)
"O Allah, You perfectly created me, so perfect my character." (Ahmad)
"O Allah, I seek refuge in you from disability and laziness; from cowardice and avarice; from decrepitude and harshness; from negligence and impoverishment, from lowness and humiliation. And I seek refuge in You from poverty and disbelief; from sinfulness, disunity and hypocrisy; from notability and Riya (showing off)..." (Ahmad, Maalik, Bazaar, Haithami and Ibn Abd al-Barr authenticated it)

About Minnesota Da'wah Institute

Who are we(Purpose & Goal): Minnesota Da’wah Institute (MDI) was established in February of 2007 by local Muslims from different backgrounds and professions with one goal in common; to be an asset in our community in which adequate programs and services such as religious, educational and social are provided through adhering in the principles of Islam (the Qur’an and the Sunnah).

Da’wah: in its original term, is derived from the arabic noun of DA’i which describes a person who calls to the path of the Lord. Da’wah is here in place to call all those willing to hear, to the true path of Islam. Hence, this name reflects our purpose and goal, Minnesota Da’wah Institute is a nonprofit and tax-exempt organization.

Weekly Hadith

On the authority of Abu Abdurahmaan Abdullah, the son of Umar ibn Al-Khattab (ra), who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (sas) say:

“Islam has been built on five [pillars]: testifying that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, establishing the Salaah (prayer), paying the Zakah (obligatory charity), making the Hajj (pilgrimage) to the House, and fasting in Ramadan.” Sahih Bukhari and Muslim

Muslims believe in a chain of prophets starting with Adam and including Noah, Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Job, Moses, Aaron, David, Solomon, Elias, Jonah, John the Baptist, and Jesus, peace be upon them. But God's final message to man, a reconfirmation of the eternal message and a summing-up of all that has gone before was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad through Gabriel.... Keep Reading

What does Islam mean?

The Arabic word 'Islam' simply means 'submission', and derives from a word meaning 'peace'. In a religious context it means complete submission to the will of God. 'Mohammedanism' is thus a misnomer because it suggests that Muslims worship Muhammad rather than God. 'Allah' is the Arabic name for God, which is used by Arab Muslims and Christians alike...
